Music Lessons in Lisbon
Hi, I'm Alon.
I'm a composer and producer, and I've been living in Lisbon for the past three years. Most days you'll find me in my home studio in Areeiro, writing and producing music for film and TV. After a break I'm teaching again, and honestly, I've missed it more than I expected.
How I teach
I don't really split music into separate subjects. A chord shape on the guitar is harmony. Harmony is composition. And the second you hit record, you're making production choices that change how the whole thing feels. So whether you come in wanting to play piano, finally understand theory, write your first song or get your mixes to sound like they do in your head, we'll end up touching all of it. That's usually when things start to click.
It's personal, too. There's no fixed curriculum. We start with the music you love and the stuff you're stuck on, and build from there. Some lessons happen at the keyboard, some at the computer, and some are just us listening to a record and figuring out why it hits the way it does.
Who it's for
Beginners who are curious about how music actually works. Experienced players who want to go deeper, write more, or get ideas out of their head and into a finished track. Anyone in between.
A bit about me
I have a BA and an MA in composition and orchestral writing. Along the way I played in a lot of indie rock bands and produced quite a few albums. I've taught at music institutions, led ensembles and given private lessons for years. These days most of my work is scoring for film and television.
My favourite part of teaching? Discovering together why music does what it does to us. And then playing.
